Climate-ready Ecosystems

Trialling and implementing innovative approaches that will help Victoria’s plants and animals adapt to climate change.

Key implementation actions for this flagship will include:

  • Establish a multi-agency NRM climate adaptation network that links research, planning and action across partner organisations.
  • Use the best available climate science to better understand the likely impacts of climate change on key species and ecosystems, and trial management actions that will maximise their adaptive capacity.
  • Implement relevant actions from Regional Waterway Strategies and protect the drought refugia areas, identified in the Regional NRM Climate Change Adaptation Plans.
  • Develop a cost-benefit framework to identify the most realistic conservation options for our most endangered species, in the context of threats such as climate change.
