Greg: Today, we're going to split you into two groups. One group will be in here with Charlotte, and Charlotte will talk to you all about waterways, habitat, and show you lots of interesting creatures.
And the other group will be outside with me, and we're going to study water bugs. Would you like to look at water bugs outside? Put your hand up. Oh, that's a good sign. Okay.

Greg:
Today, we've connected with Landcare to do learning around, the creeks, the local parks, it's the water catchment, all of those areas. And we're working with children to make connections to those spaces.

Charlotte Williamson:
It's for children to become more familiar with the species. So that they feel that connection to Country. They feel connection to place, part of the natural environment that's around them.
So getting more familiar with species that they, they didn't know that were there. Getting a deeper understanding and appreciation of what's around them.
And ways that we can all look after that together.

Lucia:
I think it's interesting looking at the water bugs.
You have to get a spoon and you have to, scoop it in and find a bug, and you have to put it in, a container and look at it and in a magnifying glass.

Greg:
Seeing children connected to their environment, getting passionate about it.
It's important and relevant for them.
And with scientists from outside coming in, making that connection, making it real, and seeing the children connect with them, they see what's possible. They learn about fascinating areas and topics, and to see them talk about it with passion, to know they're going to go home and talk to their parents about it with passion.
That's the way you think. Yeah. There's some hope.
