Biodiversity

DEECA manages a range of biodiversity reference tools including our interactive map and native vegetation information system.

Conserving threatened species

We have a range of targeted strategies to support the recovery and management of threatened species. We deliver on-ground actions that integrate the latest research and information to support effective and robust conservation strategies and recovery management.

Invasive Plants and Animals

Invasive species threaten native biodiversity because of their ability to change and destroy habitats and ecosystems.

Native vegetation

Native vegetation comprises plants indigenous to Victoria, including trees, shrubs, herbs and grasses. It provides habitat for wildlife and delivers a range of ecosystem services that make land more productive and contribute to human well being.

Sustainability

Waste management is a key to Victoria's sustainability. Getting full value from every resource is a new approach to caring for our environment and managing the needs of a growing population and economic sector.
